| Hard plastic pads only serve one purpose and that is to reduce friction and help you slide across hard surfaces like concrete and steel. This works for skateboarding but not in the snow. Snow protective gear is almost always worn under your outer layer so you have a layer of fabric between the snow and your body. This causes plastic pads to dig into the snow causing them to shift around and dig into you and potentially do you more damage than the fall itself. |

| I couldn't agree more! I boaught a (major) brand of padded shorts that had hard plastic pads and they nearly castrated me! i fell on a rail and they slidunder me between my legs. I ended up losing 2 days boarding of a 5 day trip from injuries sustained by the very thing that I thoiught would protect me |

Well, I haven't tried using hard plastic pads. I'm more comfortable using the soft ones. What's the difference anyways? _________________ SNOWBOARDING
